Port Elizabeth

Rate: R 610.oo per person - min 2 people.

This four-hour tour invites visitors to see the historical sites of Port Elizabeth from the arrival of the Portuguese in 1488 to the landing of the 1820 British Settlers. Along the way, we visit Fort Frederick (which was built in 1799 by the British and promises stunning views of Algoa Bay and the harbour), the Donkin Reserve (a historical site that was recently revamped to make it an exciting, multi-faceted attraction for young and old), Market Square, fascinating architecture and modern-day Port Elizabeth whilst sharing stories from the past. Each of these attractions makes up a part of the ever-evolving city of Port Elizabeth, and offers its own charm and intrigue.

The Settlers Park Nature Reserve is also part of this tour, and is a fantastic attraction for visitors with a penchant for the outdoors and a desire to see the loveliness of the Eastern Cape. There is plenty of fauna and flora to experience along the hiking and walking trails, in the conservancy and on the banks of the river, which winds its way through the park. Bird watchers are well rewarded when visiting Settlers, and there are a number of spots in which to enjoy a picnic.

Port Elizabeth is known for its stunning beaches and smiling faces, and visitors from all over the world are invited to be a part of the Friendly City’s hospitality as they learn more about its history and heritage.

Customised day tours and overnight tours in the Eastern Cape are available on request.
